Pope Francis will participate in a ceremony commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Revolt. The January 25 Vatican Bollettino announced: “The Holy Father Francis will travel to Lund, Sweden, to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. His Holiness Francis intends to participate in a joint ceremony of the Catholic Church and the World Lutheran Federation to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, scheduled to take place in Lund, Sweden on Monday, 31 October 2016.” The Pope will lead the “common worship service” along with two Lutheran leaders: Lutheran World Federation (LWF) President Bishop Dr Munib A. Younan and LWF General Secretary Rev. Dr Martin Junge. It will be held in Lund cathedral, a medieval cathedral held by the Lutherans from the 1530’s to the present day. In the early part of the 20th Century, Saint Maximilium Kolbe warned that “Ecumenism is the enemy of the Immaculata.”1 The pre-Vatican II popes uniformly condemned the very ecumenism nurtured since the Council, for it effectively places the one true Church established by Christ on the same level as counterfeit religions. The insanity of today’s practice of ecumenism will be illustrated by a closer look at the Arch-heretic Martin Luther and the devastation he wrought.
